Step 1 — Understand the Goal Each level presents a stack of Mahjong tiles arranged in a layered structure. Your objective is to match all tiles in identical pairs and clear the entire board. Every successful clear earns you gold, which is used to construct new buildings in your growing Shanghai city. Step 2 — Choose Your Difficulty Before each game, select from three difficulty levels: Easy — smaller tile stacks, fewer pairs, great for beginners or a quick relaxing session Normal — a balanced challenge with a mid-sized tile layout Hard — large, complex stacks that require careful planning and strategic sequencing. Hard levels reward the most gold when cleared. Step 3 — Identify Free (Open) Tiles Not every tile on the board can be selected. A tile is only available to match if it is open — meaning it has no tile placed directly on top of it AND at least one of its left or right sides is free. Tiles that are blocked by other tiles above or beside them cannot be selected until those blocking tiles are removed first. Step 4 — Match Identical Tile Pairs Click on one open tile to select it, then click on another open tile of the exact same type to remove both from the board. When two matching tiles are selected, they disappear together and reveal the tiles beneath them — opening up new potential matches. Step 5 — Think Strategically As tiles are removed, the structure changes and new tiles become accessible. Plan your matches carefully — removing the wrong pair can bury tiles you need and leave you with no valid moves. Always think one or two matches ahead. Step 6 — Earn Gold and Build Your City Every stage you clear earns gold based on your difficulty level. That gold is automatically invested into constructing your Shanghai city. The more stages you clear, the more buildings appear, and the more spectacular your city becomes. Controls Desktop: Click to select tiles and click again to match Mobile: Tap to select and tap to match Tips to Clear Every Board Always start by identifying tiles that are stacked directly on top of each other — if both come from the same set of four, prioritize clearing the top one before removing the other two from that group, or you'll block yourself permanently Focus on unlocking the deepest, most buried tiles first — freeing those opens up far more matching opportunities When you have a choice between two possible matches, always remove the tile that is blocking the most other tiles, not just the easiest pair you can see If you spot a tile with no remaining identical partner accessible, change your match order immediately to unblock that tile before it becomes stranded
